What's Brinn Wearing Wednesday: Polka Dots, Stripes and Florals.

I love mixing prints and thats kind of the thing these days I guess. I let Brinn play in the rain last night because it was soft gentle little rain and didn't think it could hurt much. It was fun to watch her curls ring tighter and tigher.

The first outfit got kind of wet so we changed shirts when Daddy got home to help in the garage.

Love patterns!

Easter Project!

We had some left over planting mix and some seed from adding to the yard. We always just throw our nasty shells in our carton when we use them so I thought we could make some little grass eggs! Like this...

What we've been up to in pictures!

Can you find Brinn? I couldn't either...

Our mornings together :)

Helping Dad outside!

Daddy taught her to love her cereal milk.

This is the first spring she actually likes to ride in the running stroller. She hated it the last two summers :)

2 going on 5 thinks she needs to ride the big swing at the park... little does she know 'Mom' aka Momma will not allow this to happen yet... she's just not ready :)

LOVES to read and I'm SOOOO GRATEFUL for this :) I love having new books on her shelf I'm constantly rotating her books and she loves to read... she pretends like she can and she will sit in the chair for a good 45 minutes and read. AMAZING.

My Mom's 1980's sunglasses are her new favorite she wears them everywhere and gets some great stares.

Momma got her back in her old swing... :) I win!

We have all week of for Spring Break so we will be snuggling and playing all day call us if you would like to join in on the fun!!!

Love Brinn and Nicole

Teacher Bits.

Ya I'm going to bore you about my teacherness stuff. I started my new placement. Of course I'm loving it. Missing Brinn but loving fourth graders! Anyways I'm in love with this lady her name is Ann Marie Corgill she is my new teacher inspiration... seriously amazing. She spoke at a conference when I was placed in Ankeny. I read and follow her blog and this is so true. She posted this today and for all you teachers out there you will love this! Every bit is so true!

This is what her tweets would have been if there was a hashtag rulebreaker4kids

• Hid workbooks district paid thousands 4 behind new “facing out” bookshelves
• Moved teacher’s desk 2 storage 2day, put books n writing supplies n its place
• Turned in a blank textbook inventory sheet. not. using. them.
• Q: Test prep or writing and conferring? A: writing and conferring
• Told kids I hate homework as much as them n will fight 4 less!
• Let class shred homework reading logs 2 day. Reading. More impt than recording.
• Said AR is stupid. People heard me.
• Said grammar worksheets are stupid. People heard me.
• Said tests and grades are stupid. People heard me.
• I care about children more than data. Hope the newspaper prints that.
• Merit pay 4 high scores? Fire me. I refuse 2 extinguish the fire n my students.
• Writing persuasive essay ab banning homework 2 model how 2 write persuasive essay.
• Spent $300 @ Office Depot. Needed sharpie markers watercolors n photo paper 4 publishing. Will eat ramen noodles this month.
• Writing prompts r crap. Despite what u’ve heard ab crap as fertilizer, it doesn’t grow writers.

And I could go on and on and on….I’m a rulebreaker4kids.They deserve to have teachers stand up for them and do what’s right even if it’s not popular….and even if we have to break a few rules in the process.

to the possibilities for rule-breaking for kids tomorrow,

Spring is here :)

I've got my spring pillows back out finally. It was hard for me to find winter things I need to brighten it up more yet. I think I might just get some fun fabric and attempt making my own pillows! I got the idea for the new wreath from my SIL she does them all the time with cute flowers and she just did one like this and I totally copied because I loved it :)

Mommisims Monday!

I tell ya one thing I love about my little girl is when she likes something she really likes it. Lately it has been Owls. I'm so impressed with how she remembered the one time when Jon and her were driving home from my parents they saw a real owl so they stopped and he showed her and now she looks for them all the time!

Tonight we were at Staples doing somethings for school, I usually get my calendars online but it's March and I still haven't gotten one. I guess I've been a little busy the last couple weeks. Well I'm afraid I'm going to miss Birthdays and stuff like that sooo.... I thought I better get one. I let Brinn pick and you'll never guess which one. You got it the Owl one. It's actually not that bad Owls are kind of that weird bird you never see but wow they are beautiful! So from now on when you come to our house yes you will see an OWL calendar in our kitchen :)

This is the things I love about my little girl Mommisims Monday!

Our Calendar

We just got this book for Brinn a couple weeks ago... such a cute little book about perseverance!!!

This is on Brinn's Wish list :) We haven't gotten it yet but I think I might get this for her maybe for something or maybe just because!

What I was up to the last 9 Weeks!

Hi loves... I've been a little MIA lately just getting a couple posts a week if I'm lucky! We haven't been doing much but school all 3 of us. Brinn's still working on her colors! I'm student teaching and Jono is hitting school really hard.

So this is what I did the past 8 weeks in the most wonderful little First Grade room EVER. I'll never foget these little babies.

Our Mustard Sandwhich ( writting you should have NO mustard sandwhiches.)

The smartboard I saved!

Using suckers to teach about real graphs.

My last day Mrs. DeJong made a little cafe for us and so I could sit and chat with the kiddos while they ate donuts. So fun!

You tell kids how to make quotations and then they write a story and around every word they put quoatations!

The Virtual Fieldtrip we went on to a coffee shop!

This is just a small piece of what we did! We did so much fun things and the best part is what I learned I'll never ever forget these 9 weeks and how it molded me to be a much better teacher! Thank you Southeast Elementary I will never forget you!
