New Years Eve.

This year is a little different for both of us! Instead of longing on my SIL couch complaining and drinking wine... this year I will be with my Husband and let me tell you I'm pretty excited about that.

"On New Years Eve I want you to kiss me. Kiss me at 11:59 and not finish that kiss until 12:01. Therefore I have a perfect ending, and definitely a perfect beginning to the year!"

This is my only goal for New Years!

Hawkeyes!

We do have a fun little team that we root root root for! The Hawkeye's and as Jono puts it... I have brain washed Brinn. I have not... she has great family and friends that have bought her awesome Hawkeye gear and when she wears it (usually game days) I told her maybe three times this is a Hawkeye shirt. So she says HAWKEYE with this growly little mean voice.

That is all her. Not me.

So we will be rooting for our team tonight :)

Go Hawkeye's!!!!

DIY baby doll diapers!

For Christmas this year I was searching for some baby diapers. Brinn always uses her real diapers to put on her dolls and I wanted her to have doll ones mainly so we weren't wasting diapers. So, I pinterested (new word) to find a tutorial. I found this one... http://2littlehooligans.blogspot.com/2011/02/embrace-camera-baby-doll-accessories.html

Then I went at it! I changed mine a little. I used cotton flat squares you can buy for a dollar at Hancock fabrics or your local fabric store. I lined them with flannel. Then bought some fleece and made a wipe container with wipes! Let me tell you this has been the BEST gift ever she LOVES them :) Which makes me so happy becasue they did take time cutting the fabric and sewing it all!!! I had a lot of fun doing it and knew that she'd love them!

Love you all!

What's Brinn Wearing Wednesday: Graphic!

One of my favorite things for Brinn to wear is graphic T's and leggings. She most comfortable in this. She has a little booty and so jeans usually restrict her and are tight around her bottom which make it hard to move around and play. We probably have 10 pairs of leggings for her that we got for less then 5 dollars because whenever there are leggings that are cheap I get them because I know she will be able to wear them next year and also because she loves to be comfortable! I consider these black leggings a staple good for a toddler they match all her graphic t's and have lace at the bottom so they can be pretty dressy!

I'm going to get my nails done (by Brinn) also my hair curled and blown dry. We have a free salon here at the Sage house if you'd like to stop by Brinn takes appointments and if you're a male she will paint your nails just a warning.

Happy Wednesday!

Tuesday's Treasures!

Today I thought I'd show you something that my Mom gave to me that she had from my Great Grandma Marie. It is such a fun piece I love it and maybe someday I'll refinish it but for now I like it the way that it is.

It's an old phone seat where you sit and use the phone. I can remember where this was at her house and I remember I always thought it was fun to sit there and pretend like I was a secretary! My Mom can remember actually sitting there and answering the phone or calling friends from Grandma's house. It has a green velvet seat that my mom had recovered and I took off what she put on there and it is the original cushion now.

Whats on Brinn's Shelf.

We read every night before Brinn goes to bed. I know my parents used to do this with us and lots of kids I have babysit have had this same routine. I wanted to make sure we made a routine with Brinn so she knew when it was time for bed and we didn't fight it each night.

Here are the books we are currently craving.

This has been Brinn's favorite since this summer. It's a great little board book. I love it because it has been helping her with counting. Right now she can count to 3! So when we read we really emphasize the rest of the numbers 4 and 5!

We usually read one story out of her Beginners Bible each night. This is a great beginners Bible because the stories are short and the pictures are great. Our cover fell off and the book is pretty beat up already. She doesn't mind we still read from it.

I love Richard Scarry. I had his books when I was little and they are so cute. Also very educational. Each page has a ton of different little pictures. He also labels everything so when we look at a page Brinn points to each thing and knows what it is a truck or a house or a owl. She loves to point to each thing.

Same with this book it has everything labeled and there are a ton of cute little stories. Good classic book.

This is another great Richard Scarry book. We are a little obsessed with Richard Scarry right now. They are so educational and great for two year olds learning new words and vocabulary.

Last but not least. We've been reading through Charlotte's Web. Brinn likes this book because there are pictures about every third page. We usually only read a couple pages every other night because sometimes she can't sit still long enough. I still think it's good to read chapter books at this age. I feel kids need to hear books read aloud because their listening skills are better at this age then their literate level. Ages 3-5 is where kids constantly are picking up Vocabulary and Sentence structure so I'm trying to get into the habit of reading aloud to her more often and not only picture books but also chapter books. Everyone has their idea of how they read and when they read! This is just what we are doing :) (I didn't spend four years in school for nothing.)

Love you all

She's Two!

Well we survived the day. From dry wallers pounding and banging on the house all day we had a great fun day! Brinn had a special day :) Here's some pictures to show.

I've been waiting a long time for these little shoes. Brinn will appreciate them someday just like I appreciate mine! My Mom had our very first pair of shoes bronzed. Brinn's were my favorite little Pedipads. I actually still try to squeeze her into the other ones I got her I love Pedipads. They match everything and you only need one pair! Just like these little white ones she had one pair of shoes! They fit and went with everything it was son nice.

Happy Birthday Miss Brinn!
