Whats on Brinn's Shelf.

We read every night before Brinn goes to bed. I know my parents used to do this with us and lots of kids I have babysit have had this same routine. I wanted to make sure we made a routine with Brinn so she knew when it was time for bed and we didn't fight it each night.

Here are the books we are currently craving.

This has been Brinn's favorite since this summer. It's a great little board book. I love it because it has been helping her with counting. Right now she can count to 3! So when we read we really emphasize the rest of the numbers 4 and 5!

We usually read one story out of her Beginners Bible each night. This is a great beginners Bible because the stories are short and the pictures are great. Our cover fell off and the book is pretty beat up already. She doesn't mind we still read from it.

I love Richard Scarry. I had his books when I was little and they are so cute. Also very educational. Each page has a ton of different little pictures. He also labels everything so when we look at a page Brinn points to each thing and knows what it is a truck or a house or a owl. She loves to point to each thing.

Same with this book it has everything labeled and there are a ton of cute little stories. Good classic book.

This is another great Richard Scarry book. We are a little obsessed with Richard Scarry right now. They are so educational and great for two year olds learning new words and vocabulary.

Last but not least. We've been reading through Charlotte's Web. Brinn likes this book because there are pictures about every third page. We usually only read a couple pages every other night because sometimes she can't sit still long enough. I still think it's good to read chapter books at this age. I feel kids need to hear books read aloud because their listening skills are better at this age then their literate level. Ages 3-5 is where kids constantly are picking up Vocabulary and Sentence structure so I'm trying to get into the habit of reading aloud to her more often and not only picture books but also chapter books. Everyone has their idea of how they read and when they read! This is just what we are doing :) (I didn't spend four years in school for nothing.)

Love you all
